Charlie Chan is a composer, pianist, multi-instrumentalist and recording artist, with a career spanning almost three decades. She has released multiple acclaimed solo albums, including East and West (1996), Wild Swans (1998) and Charlie Chan Piano (2007), and has written the original scores for television series, feature films and documentaries, such as McLeod’s Daughters, Me Myself I, and Australian Story.
Charlie is a pioneer in the digital music space. She was one of the first Australian composers to embrace technology in her work. The interactive website she built to support her solo albums bridged the gap between artist and audience. To date, Charlie has sold 75,000 physical CDs and more than 500,000 individual track downloads to fans, many of whom reside in the United States.
Charlie’s live concert appearances include the Sydney Opera House, State Theatre Sydney and Melbourne Town Hall. She has been awarded Best Music Performance at the Melbourne Fringe Festival along with being nominated for two APRA (Australian Performing Rights Assoc.) Awards for Best Music for a Television Series and Best Film Score, and three Australian Guild of Screen Composers nominations for Best Soundtrack Album, Best Music for a Feature Film, and Best Music for a Documentary. Born and raised in Melbourne, with time spent living in Malaysia, Charlie now lives in Sydney.
Justin Baird is a creative technologist with broad-ranging experience across the Asia Pacific. He has worked at Google, Accenture Studios, and Jumptank, and is currently the Head of Technology, Asia Pacific at Imagination.
Nathan Waks is a renowned Australian cellist, composer, producer, arts administrator and wine company owner. He is a founding Director and Artistic Advisor of the Australian Chamber Orchestra. He divides his time between France, Florida and Sydney.
