GO : THE GLOBAL ORCHESTRA

GO: The Global Orchestra Team 2015

GO: THE GLOBAL ORCHESTRA was founded in 2013 with the idea of combining technology and creativity - for the planet’s sake. In March 2014, during Earth Hour, the first GO: Concert for the Planet was staged. An ensemble comprised of the principal players of the Sydney Symphony Orchestra performed a magnificent rendition of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons - at the Balmain Town Hall, to a rapt, enthusiastic audience.

CONCERT FOR THE PLANET

GO: Concert for the Planet 2015, GO staged a massive, collaborative music project. At the stroke of 8.30pm, when lights were switched off all over the city to signify the start of Earth Hour, the Sydney Symphony Or-chestra began playing the Concert for the Planet … this time, a mass-participation, multi-location performance of Holst’s “The Planets” led by chief conductor, David Robertson. More than 200 schools, community groups, and orchestras across 350 locations joined in, enabled by technol-ogy, … playing the same piece of music at the same time.

INTERACTIVE ORCHESTRA

In 2017, GO: The Global Orchestra invited a robot to join the musicians on stage.

GO played in the Sydney Opera House with a 40-member jazz ensemble, called “GO: The Interactive Orchestra.” It fea-tured Baxter the Robot on Marimba using artificial intelligence to play along.

Presented at the 2017 Adobe Symposium, the Interactive Or-chestra was an example of the art of the possible when you blend artificial intelligence and robotics with creativity and audience experience.

Using a million pieces of music and custom-built artificial in-telligence, Baxter, an industrial robot rescued from a mindless production line, played the marimba as a featured soloist in our orchestra.

The music, lighting, and visual projections were influenced by the audience interacting with the performance on their mobile phones.

A fusion of robotics, machine intelligence, and music to create a never- seen-before experience.

CONDUCTOR-CAM

GO developed new intellectual property through the development of the GO: Conductor Cam, which allows musicians around the world to follow along and play at the same time as other orchestras.

Conductor Cam provides the cues necessary to follow along with the principal conductor of a global event.

NASA ROCKET SCIENTIST ORCHESTRA

The NASA Orchestra at Langley has participated in two of our GO: Concert for the Planet events, along with hundreds of school orchestras as part of our education outreach initiatives.

UNITED NATIONS

GO: WE THE CHILDREN hosted a performance of an original composition by GO founder Charlie Chan for the United Nations World Children’s Day on November 20th, 2019.

Charlie was the first Australian artist to be invited to perform at the United Nations.

She was joined by the PS22 Chorus, a 60-strong children’s choir from Staten Island, New York, who have sung with international celebrities like Beyoncé and Leslie Odom Jr. They performed at the UNICEF summit to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), in celebration of World Children’s Day.

The performance was held at the United Nations General Assembly Hall in New York City.
